Civil Engineering

We design everything below and around the building: grading, drainage, servicing, roads and parking, so the site works on day one and for decades after.

Our approach

Civil engineering often decides whether a site plan is approved and how much a project costs to service. We prepare grading and servicing plans, stormwater management reports and erosion and sediment control plans that meet municipal and conservation authority requirements, and we coordinate them with the architecture so the building and the site are designed together.

What we deliver

Site grading and drainage

Lot grading plans that move water away from buildings and neighbouring properties.

Site servicing

Water, sanitary and storm connections sized and designed to municipal standards.

Stormwater management

Quantity and quality control, including on-site storage, infiltration and low-impact development measures.

Erosion and sediment control

Plans that protect watercourses and neighbouring land during construction.

Roads, driveways and parking

Layouts, pavement design and accessible routes for vehicles and pedestrians.

Approvals support

Reports and drawings for site plan control, conservation authority permits and municipal review.

Lot grading certification

Site inspections and certificates confirming the work was built as designed.

Drainage investigations

Finding and fixing the cause of flooding, ponding and wet basements.

Typical projects

  • Infill residential lots
  • Townhouse and low-rise developments
  • Commercial and industrial sites
  • Parking lots and access roads
  • Severances and new lots
  • Drainage problems on existing properties

How it works

  1. Site investigation

Existing grades, services, soils and drainage patterns are reviewed and surveyed.

  2. Concept layout

Building location, access and servicing routes are set out with the design team.

  3. Detailed design

Grading, servicing and stormwater drawings and reports are completed for approval.

  4. Construction review

We inspect the work and issue the certificates the municipality requires.

Why ASE GROUP

One team, every discipline
