Mechanical Engineering
We design the systems that keep a building comfortable, healthy and efficient: heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection.
Our approach
Good mechanical design is sized from real heat-loss and heat-gain calculations, not rules of thumb. We select equipment that suits the building and the Canadian climate, including cold-climate heat pumps and energy recovery ventilation, and we coordinate duct and pipe routes with the structure and the architecture early, so everything fits.
What we deliver
Heating and cooling
Load calculations and system design, from heat pumps and boilers to rooftop units.
Ventilation
Heat and energy recovery ventilators, make-up air and exhaust systems for healthy indoor air.
Plumbing and drainage
Domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage systems sized to code.
Fire protection
Sprinkler and standpipe design coordinated with specialist contractors.
Natural gas systems
Gas piping and equipment layouts for heating and process loads.
Efficient upgrades
Replacing older equipment with high-efficiency and electric systems.
Commissioning support
Checks that the installed systems perform as designed.
Typical projects
- New homes and multi-unit residential
- Commercial fit-outs
- Restaurants and food service
- Offices and clinics
- Industrial and warehouse spaces
- Conversions to heat pumps
How it works
Survey and loads
We review the building and calculate heating, cooling and ventilation loads.
System selection
Options are compared on cost, efficiency, space and maintenance.
Design and coordination
Drawings and specifications are coordinated with the other disciplines.
Installation review
We review the installation and help with start-up and balancing.
Why ASE GROUP
One team, every discipline
Design, engineering and construction in one group, so nothing falls between separate consultants.
One point of contact
A single project lead coordinates everyone involved and keeps you informed at every stage.
Designed for Ontario
Work that meets the Ontario Building Code and stands up to the Canadian climate.
